“Walk Like an Egyptian” is a silly song. “Eternal Flame” at least has some pretensions toward being serious. Although, I have to admit that when “Eternal Flame” was playing non-stop on the radio, my friends and I came up with hand gestures that went along with it in order to make fun of it. As I recall though, we didn’t change the channel when it came on, whereas we often did with “Egyptian.”
The best Bangles song, though, was “In Your Room.”
Looks like WLAE pulled ahead here too. I was fairly young when the bangles came out, so, WLAE is a little more kid friendly. I think they play it on Radio Disney and other kids stations.
My first real crush. 6th grade. Party with that song playing. She liked me, but I didn’t do anything about it because I was afraid my parents would find out and I’d get in trouble. Ah, love.
But I love Walk Like An Egyptian. It’s a rockin’ song.
Then nominate another one, Greg. If it’s not one of these, then it has to be “In Your Room” or “Manic Monday.” You can’t say “Hazy Shade of Winter” because that’s a cover.
I heard “Walk Like and Egyptian” on the radio yesterday. Has a good hook and the associated dance made it a sure-fire hit at the time. (Sort of the pre- Macarena).
It is not a great song but I voted for it because it doesn’t induce the gag reflex in me like that other one does.
Walk Like an Egyptian, despite being a silly fluffy song is actually pretty catchy. Although honestly it’s also one of those songs you can’t get out of your head. THANKS!
Rusty, how many times have you mentioned Carrie Fitzgibbon here?? I hope she’s the woman you married, or someday she’s going to google her name and be seriously freaked out.
Close your eyes…give me your hand…

Walk like an Egyptian seems to be winning on the other page.

That’s because those people don’t believe in eternal love.
“Am I only dreaming…or is this feeling…”

Which one did Prince write? (j/k)
I can’t believe Eternal Flame isn’t winning. It’s so wonderful. Susanna Hoffs, sigh.

Take heart eternal flame is once again in the lead.
I believe that Manic Monday was the song that Prince wrote.

Woah. I 50/50 split!
Personally, I don’t care for either. The Bangles had some good songs, but these weren’t them.

Manic Monday all the way. Prince = genius.

I am looking in vain for the “none of the above” option.
