TV

The premiere of Top Chef’s Season 5 garnered series-high ratings. And let me share a little tip with the contestants, when Tom asks you to cook something, do NOT make a salad.

For our readers in Texas, Friday Night Lights is in need of extras. Lots of extras. Best show on TV by the way.

FX announces the return dates for two shows. Nip/Tuck premieres on January 6th and Damages on Jan. 7th. Don’t care much for Nip/Tuck but Damages is good TV. It boasts a very strong cast which includes Glenn Close, Rose Byrne, Tate Donovan, and a remarkable performance by Ted Danson, who should have won the Emmy. William Hurt also joins the cast this season. Damages will be on Wednesdays at 10/9c so after Lost, flip on over and check it out. Though you may want to ckeck out Season 1 before you do.

Stan Lee and Showtime are working on a new show featuring a gay superhero. The main villain will be Mr. Pleats.

Along with My Own Worst Enemy, other cancellations include NBC’s Lipstick Jungle and Fox’s Mad TV. Yes, I know, I thought MadTV was cancelled a long time ago, too.

As far as ABC goes, their winter schedule was leaked. The schedule did not include Pushing Daisies nor Dirty Sexy Money, but did include Eli Stone. Sounds like cancellation is fairly imminent for PD. Bryan Fuller says that he will wrap up the Daisies’ storylines in comic book form.

New Desperate Housewife cast member, Sarah Palin?

William Shatner and George Takei are feuding. “Shatner reminisced about one exchange he shared with Takei after learning the Sulu character would get his own ship. ‘I remember saying to him, ‘George, you’re going to be on another starship and all the action takes place on our starship; aren’t you going to be missing that?’’ Shatner recalled. ‘He said, ‘Yes, but I’ll have my own starship.’ I didn’t want to remind him that this was fiction and not reality. I didn’t want to destroy his world.’

Movies

Remake Alert! The Munsters? With the Wayans brothers?

According to Jeffrey Tambor, the Arrested Development movie is going to happen.

Guillermo del Toro discusses plans for The Hobbit.

Christopher Nolan is being sued by…Batman?

New Harrison Ford illegal immigration movie, Crossing Over.

New Watchmen trailer.

And apparently there will be a new Star Trek trailer playing ahead of Quantum of Solace.

And in honor of Quantum of Solace, James Bond’s best sex puns.

Sports

I’m going to hell for thinking so, but these two youth football videos are pretty funny.

  1. My Own Worst Enemy cancelled just like that? I guess Christian Slater is just not as cute as Jennifer Garner.

  2. So I have all the episodes of My Own Worst enemy and Pushing Daisies on my tivo waiting to watch. Should I just delete them all and forget they existed, or watch them all and get upset they were canceled?

Arrested Development movie? I hope that means people are going to start posting their favorite quotes in this thread.

Michael: Hey, Mom. Remember we had that conversation about trying to cut back on things that aren’t necessities?
    Lucille: Like it was yesterday.
    Michael: It was this morning.
