Top 10 Reasons Kulturblog Rules
10) We never navel-gaze.
9) No advertisements gives us the freedom to talk about whatever we want. Sometimes freedom IS free. Of ads.
8 ) The header.
7) BTD Greg’s Lost recaps.
6) Lists rule.
5) Susan M.
4) We’ve actually tricked some movie studios into granting us access to preview their movies. (an ILLUSION Michael, a trick is something a whore does for money…AND CANDY!)
3) The upcoming KulturCast.
2) Not one conversation about SSM.
1) We are like kittens who are so easily distracted with a new post that we immediately forget about what we were just talking about to talk about the new thing.

You forgot Link of the Day. That’s usually pretty cool, too.

I agree with everything except the ads. You guys deserve a little dough, why not put up a few Google ads?

I tricked Fox into letting me into a preview of “Space Chimps” (review forthcoming: not as bad as you think) this weekend, mostly as an excuse for a cheap outing with my kids. I was somewhat comforted by the fact that movie reviewer for the Village Voice had done the same thing and was sitting just down the row from me.
Re: ads. I use Firefox with AdBlockPlus. (Why doesn’t everyone?) I wouldn’t care either way.

A couple more:
–There is very little pissyness around here.
–KB is militantly hostile to talk of religion. Funny.
And I, too, like that we never navel gaze. I would hate that.

Rusty, this is your best list yet.

#1 is so true it’s scary.
And this? (an ILLUSION Michael, a trick is something a whore does for money…AND CANDY!)
made me laugh.

Nope. No omphaloskepsis here.

Rusty,
We could totally run ads and still say whatever we wanted.
I just don’t know if we have enough traffic to make it worthwhile.

Kudos on making #5 Susan! =) (I agree.)
Can’t wait for Heroes (and Lost, eventually) recaps =)

The header is awesome.

Hey, I want some free passes! I can usually get them from work, but they’re usually second-rate movies that wouldn’t be worth reviewing.

I think voting on stuff is one of the funnest things. They’re simple and always make segue into a fun discussion.
Oh, and although it’s not mentioned, I think it is almost an unwritten “given” that those coming over from the theism blogs to the site are interested in seeing what others of their theistic stripe like to watch/do/read/etc.. Personally I’m not part of any of that, but I do understand the intrigue that comes with wanting to know what your religious peers think about pop culture - perhaps it solidifies the relationships even more if common interests are discovered. Even pastafarians like myself want to know what the other thinks about things less serious than speaking like a pirate while dining on a delicious plate of marinara-drenched riggatoni.

David, did you see that His Noodly Appendage was recently sighted? But lo, let us not speak of such things.

#10 cracks me up.
(You know, because it is in this post.)
And yes, the header here totally rules

SG, yes, I did see the fireworks. It just proves His noodly existence. But alas I must refrain, lest we speak on such affairs in this thy royal forum! rAmen!

You forgot Link of the Day. That’s usually pretty cool, too.
Except that it’s actually Link of the Fiscal Quarter.

What’s “SSM”? I think it’s computer-talk, but I’m not sure…
