Band Spotlight: The Next Hundred Years

by Susan M

The Next Hundred Years are a rock band that really rocks. That’s about all I can say, except I’ve been listening to their new album non-stop since I got it. And their guitarist, who answered the questionnaire below, is one of the funniest men in music.

Band name: The Next Hundred Years

Joel Cannell – Bass
Arden Picton – Drums

Best description you’ve heard of your music:
Eclectic, hard to define music that has catchiness and melody.

Describe your best (or worst!) live performance:
Our performances are all special to us in their own little way.

the next hundred years. – S/T – 2006
the next hundred years. – Obese Momentum – 2007

Tell us about the songs posted in our radio.blog:
“Pins” – a tale of daring adventure and epic romance, narrated by James Earl Jones and a delay pedal.

“Codebreaker” – Sadness and loss in the eye of the storm, in this musical composition many emotions are explored and then conquered. A lusty parable indeed.

Upcoming show dates:
Festival of Guns
the next hundred years./Lights Below/Ninjaspy
November 17th 2007
Pub 340
Vancouver BC, Canada

How did the band form/meet?
A savvy A@R guy hired us, gave us new clothes and fresh lease on life. We are mere cogs in the grand machine called rock.

Describe your songwriting process.
TNHY is a collective effort. We all contribute to the songwriting process, and each bring a unique piece to the puzzle. There is no I in We.

What’s your local music scene like? is it an influence on you?
There are some great local bands such as Black Betty, Hezzakya, Black Mountain, A Thousand Year Plan, Pride Tiger, Three Inches of Blood……

Anything else we should know about you:
That we love music and you do too. Since we have so much in common, you should buy our record.

So there you have it! Check out The Next Hundred Years in the radio.blog on the left.

  2. This band is very indie at this point, I’d suggest contacting them directly via their website or myspace.

They deserve to be huge. Really a fantastic album.

You can also contact Kyle directly. I’m sure he’d be happy to sell you a copy. Both albums are good, so pick ‘em both up while you’re at it.
