Heroes recap: “The Line”

by Supergenius

Your regular, high-quality writeups will return next week. Hopefully this will be accompanied by a high-quality episode, unlike tonight’s.

Sorry, folks, it’s looking grim.

West convinces Claire to teach head cheerleader Debbie a lesson after she deems Claire too ordinary to join the squad. While Suresh faces a serious moral dilemma with the Company, H.R.G. pays his Russian mentor a visit in an effort to locate Isaac’s last prophetic paintings. Meanwhile, nearing the U.S. border, Alejandro becomes increasingly uneasy about Sylar’s intentions, especially towards Maya. Peter and Caitlin’s search for a mysterious doorway he painted ultimately leads them to a surprising place. In feudal Japan, while attempting to repair history, Hiro struggles with his feelings for Kensei’s “princess” Yaeko.

Soooooooooooo tired of Zan and Jayna. If only they had Gleek.

  1. I gave up on Heroes after the lame finale in the first season. I have not watched a single episode in the second season.

  2. I haven’t watched it yet but the previews didn’t look encouraging. The problem is that right now so many characters are unlikable or boring. Last year there were a few but were made up by the rest. This year even some of my favorites like Hiro are boring as all get out.

  3. That was the worst episode of the season. The writing was unbelievably clunky. If it wouldn’t have been for the return of badass HRG, the entire episode would have been a loss.

After last week’s excellent episode, I had hope.

  4. Missed two weeks worth of Heroes, and I’m not feeling the loss.

  5. This was a terrible episode. The Wonder Twins killed it for me. Hiro is no longer watchable. The Company is dull as dirt. I think that does it. Look for an upcoming post on what show I should recap instead.

  6. Think about Chuck. I’ll vote it most improved. Most of the (huge) production issues I’ve been griping about are gone. Some of the acting problems are gone as well. (Probably in part due to direction) I’m kind of glad I stuck with it through it’s problematic first four episodes.

House has been great this year also. It’s really shaken the format up a bit.

Other than that it’s been a kind of dismal year. Here’s hoping they fix 24 and that Lost and BSG don’t disappoint.

On the other hand now I can get caught up in my Netflix queue.

  7. Here’s hoping the impending Writers’ strike doesn’t mess up Lost…

  8. I read something in Variety the other day that suggested that a writer’s strike might actually be a boost for LOST. Apparently, due to the hiatus, the writers have been working extra hard to complete scripts ahead of time. (Incidentally, executive producer/head writer Carlton Cuse is one of the guild negotiators. Go figure.) I’m not exactly sure how the logic works, but the implication was that LOST was less likely to suffer from interruption than other serialized dramas.

Here’s the article, if you’re interested.

  9. You know I finally saw this episode of Heroes. While not as good as last week there’s no way it was as bad as folk were making out. The story is finally going somewhere.

  10. yeah, I agree with Clark here. I had avoided watching this episode until I caught up on some other things. but, after a disappointing Simpsons’ Halloween special, I clicked the DVR and watched this episode.

It wasn’t that bad. I do think the Hiro/Ando story-telling device has been a flop, but, it looks like they are finally going somewhere with it, the “kiss that changed the course of history.” So, my hopes are up for that. And, who is White Beard? Will that be Linderman?

The HRG storyline was interesting…he’s turning bad ass again. Claire and superboy is a tired line as well. But, it was nice finally seeing someone use their powers for something.

  11. And here I was thinking they’d finally started to turn it around. But it’s more like a 3 point turn than a U turn. It’s going to take a little maneuvering to get it back on track. My hopes are still high…

  12. My hopes aren’t high at this stage simply because there still isn’t much of a mystery yet. But it can get better. At least things are finally progressing. We’ll see how tonight turns out.
