Painfully Unscripted: The “Heavily Accented” Podcast
I’ve created another podcast during my commute time, this one features singers with thick accents. (Which I should probably dedicate to Ronan, our resident Brit, since most of the bands are British.)
Featured songs:
New Model Army - “Bittersweet”
Billy Bragg - “The Short Answer”
The Decemberists - “The Legionaire’s Lament”
The Toy Dolls - “Fiery Jack”
Alisdair Roberts - “The Whole House is Singing”
Damian Dempsey - “Ghosts of Overdoses”
(I’ll get better at the editing eventually. Unfortunately, I can’t edit them while driving, and my time to spend on it at home is very limited!)
Here’s the record single I mention in the podcast:

Upcoming podcasts that are in the works (or at least, I’ve thought about them a bit):
- The Joyful Podcast (bluegrass & doom metal)
- The Compare and Contrast Podcast, 80’s style
- The Climactic Podcast
- The Compare and Contrast Podcast: Songs in Embryo
- The Acoustic Podcast
Enjoy.
Awesome. The Decemberists’ accent is so funny, since they’re not from anywhere extraordinary (Portland).

love the toy dolls! one of my favorite bands from when i was in junior high. “james bond lives down our street” was one of my faves.
and what about the streets? about as heavily-accented as it gets.

These people most certainly don’t have accents!

Good suggestion on the Streets. Also the Arctic Monkeys. The Fratellis, too.

I forgot I meant to include a pic of the record single I mention in the podcast, just updated the post with it.

Susan, thanks for your podcast! Found it by accident.
I am not big on accents, but I do enjoy cute and subtle ones.
Have you heard of Marina V? She’s my recent favorite of new artists. She’s originally from Russia, and has a hint of her accent. She also sings in her native Russian, and it’s just beautiful.

Check out “Holy One” from 2003 and “Killing My Dream” from the Live album. Also, I love her version of “Here, There and Everywhere” on her Live Album.
