The death of Lorelai

Amen to the NY Times. Gilmore Girls is officially off the tivo. Way to screw it up, CW.

  1. Yep. I lasted 3 episodes into the current season, and most of that was just inertia and wishful thinking.

  2. Check out this article, which pretty much says it all:

  3. As one of the world’s biggest male GG fans, I admit my disappointment with this season’s offerings. The writing is obviously worse; as the Times article noted, the direction is off; and the character focus (in my opinion) is absolutely crazy (Logan and Christopher? Seriously?). But, even with all that, I can’t believe you guys would just give up on it. Isn’t this supposed to be the last season? If so, aren’t you, like me, hoping for a triumphant return to form (at least in the story line) by the end? Luke and Jess riding in on white horses to save our beloved Girls from their trite/drab/out-of-character love affairs?

I know that my expectations will be sorely disappointed in the end, but I’m holding out hope anyway.

  4. Dude, I’m with you — I love GG, and gave it multiple chances. I’ll keep reading the TWoP recaps and come back to it when it beginst to resurface.

  5. I’m hanging on! I’ll admit, I had to read some spoilers to help, but I’m still there. I don’t look as forward to it as I did, but I’m hopeful. Maybe misguidedly, but still hopeful. Certainly they can still pull it from the ick.

  6. Dudes, I wish I could care, but I just can’t.

  7. D., maybe they will shoot it in B&W and splice in Douglas Fairbanks.

  8. The SO wanted to watch it last night so I did. It was the best of the season so far. But mainly that was because all of the relationships were ignored and they got back to the Rory/Lorelai/Gilmore grandparents tangle.

  9. Yay! for Douglas Fairbanks. Senior or Junior?

    Comment by D. Fletcher — November 8, 2006 @ 8:34 pm

  10. Senior, of course.

  11. I’m hoping it will turn out to all be a bad dream. Everyone who knows these characters at all knows Lorelei would not stop loving Luke and marry Christopher within a few weeks.
Didn’t she tell the therapist just a few months ago that she NEVER was in love before Luke?
Come on guys, give it up and get Amy and back. PLEASE!!!!!

  12. Amen Bonnie. But I have lost all hope. SHE MARRIED CHRISTOPHER. I hate this show now.

  13. “Death Comes to Stars Hollow: A Very Special ‘Gilmore Girls’ Event”: for disillusioned fans of the show, this very dark post should be hilarious and cathartic.
