Thankful for AD
I spent a good portion of the weekend watching Arrested Development on DVD. In honor of that outstanding show, I present a poll. Feel free to write-in your candidates.

Four more years! Four more years!
Bob Loblaw
There is always money in the bananna stand.
Lucille: Buster, what’s going on? What happened to your head?
Buster: Nothing. Gob was just teaching me how to hit it with a hammer.

Susan, I second Bob Loblaw…

Nothing can ever be funnier than Franklin. I’m laughing just thinking about it.

My submissions for second place:
“No touching!”
“Who’s Ann?”
“Illusions, Michael. Tricks are what a whore does for money.”

How about this classic piece of Tobias:
Narrator: Tobias listens to a day’s worth of his own words, to see what Michael was referring to…
Tobias: [on tape] … even if it means me taking a chubby, I will suck it up.
Tobias: Nothing wrong with that.
Tobias: [on tape] Oh, I’ve been in the film business for a while, but I just can’t seem to get one in the can.
Tobias: It’s out of context.
Tobias: [on tape] I wouldn’t mind kissing that man between the cheeks.
Narrator: …and he realized there is something distinct about the way he speaks.
Tobias: Tobias, you blowhard! [chuckles]

Michael: This doesnt look like Iraq.
Barry Zuckerkorn: Nope. These are balls. You’re looking at balls.

A duet with Franklin and GOB.
It’s not easy being white
It’s not easy being brown

Thanks to recommendations from my friends here at KB I just got the first DVD of Season 1 in the mail from Netflix… I’ll watch first and vote later.

a great show.
anything with the cornballer gets me laughing.
franklin is a riot, especially the scene where gob is driving george sr. in the limo and franklin speaks to the black security guard. i almost died laughing on that one.
george michael is a riot too.
also, the “lessons” george sr. taught his kids using the one-armed man are a classic.
i was disappointed to hear it is being dropped.
but the best way to watch it is as steve has done–get the dvd’s and watch at least four episodes at a time.

I rented the first season over Thanksgiving to see what all the hubbub was about and now… I’m hooked.
I’ve watched a couple of episodes from this season and I don’t quite get all the jokes so I’ve got to get through the second season and soon!
‘Analrapist’ still makes me snort-laugh everytime I think of it. Every. time.
And from last night, “Why am I not going under water? Dear God, why am I not going under water?”

Sshh. I haven’t watched last night’s episode last night.
My son can do all the chicken dances.

Bawk-a-bawk-a-bawk!
“Have any of you ever seen a chicken?”
Sunday’s epidsode was hilarious, Susan. You’ve got to watch it.

I love it when I make sense. “Watched last night’s episode yet,” I meant.
I finally watched it. “I’ve made a huge mistake!”
I *love* the whole concept of Wee Britian. So funny. Especially if you live in Orange County (like me).

My wife rewinded the “Next week on Arrested Development” part like three times. That was one of my favorite episodes of all time.
Comment by NFlanders — December 8, 2005 @ 12:39 pm
Three moments from last night’s episode we had to pause after, to laugh our brains out, and then rewind and watch again:
No stair-car parking!

But not too hot! The scabs come right off.

It’s a jet pack, Michael! What could possibly go wrong?

I must add:
“how can I say no to the woman who gave me chlymydia?”
“Actually, that would be Donny Most.”
“It’s a good thing I didn’t cry.”

“We’re getting rid of the Seaward.”
“I’ll leave when I’m good and ready!”

Word is that Showtime may be picking up AD.
I watched my first two episodes on Monday. It was ok. Nothing to write home about.
Comment by Bryce I — December 14, 2005 @ 2:12 pm
That means you saw the old episode from season one they aired?
“I know that she’s a brownish area, with…points! And she’s nothing like you, Mother! And I know that I LOVE HER!”
It’s really best when viewed on dvd, several episodes at a time.
My husband and I are still chuckling about the “headlining” line from Monday’s new episode. The writing in that show is just so chock full of puns and plays on words, most of them outrageous. It’s impossible to catch it all in one viewing, too.

Ok, I’m now officially caught up, and get all the references you all have made. No wonder I like it here!
Now if I’d only jumped on the bandwagon back at the beginning!

Chad Too, good stuff. You can now eat at the cool kids’ lunch table (assuming that you’ve already rented and watched all of Freaks & Geeks and Wonderfalls).
Comment by Supergenius — December 27, 2005 @ 6:48 pm
I’ve watched the last new episode three times because different friends have come over and wanted to see it. Everytime, I catch something new.
“What could be more pathetic than three grown men being afraid of their father?” (Their mother walks in and they all start screaming)
Comment by Susan M — December 27, 2005 @ 6:56 pm
I’ll look into Freaks and Geeks, do I get any bonus points for having watched Wonderfalls when it originally aired? Made me want to buy an Airstream.
