Miss Congeniality Poo
Wow. I’m tempted to see this, if only to mock it relentlessly. The NY Times review was suitably merciless. I think with this we can officially deem Sandra Bullock’s career to be dead (though some question whether it ever really existed). *laughs mercilessly*

Here’s the thing:
I thought she was perfect in Speed and While You Were Sleeping. But I think it’s now clear that those must have been flukes.

OK, I liked Speed and While You Were Sleeping as well. But what else has she done that is praiseworthy? Her IMDB profile reveals naught but stinkers. Hope Floats? 28 Days? Demolition Man?
Never again, I say!

I just saw a trailer for this and thought it looked kinda cute. I’ll probably rent it. Even though I’m sick of her and she annoys me now.
I think what I find annoying with some of these stars is that they’re in their 40’s yet they’re still playing much younger women.

Her last name is half-way to being an apt description of her work.

Dallin: Craplock?

Steve, you’ve got some cruel streak.
Comment by D. Fletcher — March 24, 2005 @ 4:57 pm
I know; maybe if I knew Ms. Bullock I would have greater mercy. But where would the fun be in that?
Besides D., you know I’m right — you’ve sat through Sandra Bullock movies too!
Comment by Steve Evans — March 24, 2005 @ 6:04 pm
Yeah, and I actually like her. She’s the normal version of Julia Roberts, who has certainly made her share of … unfortunate movies.

Don’t forget The Net! I can’t believe I watched the entire thing, but, alas, I did. At least Hackers was (unintentionally) funny.
Comment by William Morris — March 24, 2005 @ 6:46 pm
No way, I love the Net. I love any movies that show computers as much as that one does, because of the way they depict what happens on the computers. So awesome.

Sandra Bullock was in the only movie I’ve ever fallen asleep during while in the theater. Prince of Egypt–so maybe it was just her voice.
The first Miss Congeniality was utterly inoffensive in every way, which makes it hard to hate, but easy not to like. Perhaps the second one will be that way.

I like her and hope she starts making good movies again. I really liked her in Speed, While You Were Sleeping (which is one of my favorite movies), and Miss Congeniality (though making a sequel had to have been screaming out bad idea). I thought The Net was okay. Just the ads for MC2 make me cringe, though, and if that’s what they’ve selected to sell me on going to see it… blech.

Speed proved that in the bad acting show-down between Keanu and Sandra, Sandra wins hands down. Her terribleness knows no bounds. The only time I have wanted to see her in a movie was in 28 Days Later. I was hoping that it was some sort of sick sequel to 28 Days and that she would be queen of the blood vomitting zombies.

I kinda am willing to admit that I sorta liked her in that move where she and Nicole Kidman played witches, “Practical Magic.†Dare I comment on this blog ever again after making such a confession?

Did anyone catch Sandra Bullock on the Daily Show?
